Participating as a judge and speaker at the iWISE project was an incredibly enriching experience. The International World Innovative Student Expo (iWISE) is a unique global platform that brings together young innovators, artists, and performers aged 10 to 24 from all corners of the globe. This year's event, held in London, was a celebration of creativity and innovation across a wide array of categories, including STEM, art, and talent.
iWISE is organised by Oscar Education Ltd UK, an institutionwith a long-standing commitment to educational excellence, and Sky Management. Their efforts in facilitating such a global exchange of ideas and talent are commendable. It is hosted by the University of Surrey and we stayed on the
University of Surrey campus, which provided a perfect environment for learning and cultural exchange.
Global AI Opportunities
The event has sparked my interest in exploring how artificial intelligence could be integrated globally, perhaps as part of my own venture with Dan Sodergren @dansodergren, AI Teacher Course. The possibilities for using AI to enhance education and creative expression on a worldwide scale seem limitless now that we have an online course. Through our AI courses for teachers and comprehensive AI teacher training, we aim to equip educators with the tools they need to embrace this technological revolution. More information about these initiatives can be found on our AI Teacher Course homepage.
Beyond the Competition: A Cultural and Social Experience
iWISE is more than just a competition; it is a convergence of youthful exuberance and innovative thinking that leaves a lasting impact on everyone involved. The event included not only the main competition but also several enriching cultural experiences:
- Exploring London: Participants had the opportunity to visit iconic sites such as the London Eye and Buckingham Palace. These excursions provided a unique cultural immersion, allowing participants to witness the grandeur of London firsthand.
- Cambridge Adventure: A day trip to Cambridge included punting along the serene River Cam, offering a glimpse of the historic university city from a unique perspective.
- Surrey Walking Tour: The participants enjoyed a walking tour of Surrey, experiencing the picturesque English countryside and its charming villages.
- International Evening: One of the most memorable parts of the event was the International Evening. Students showcased their cultural heritage through traditional dances, and we were treated to gifts and food from their home countries. This evening was a true celebration of global diversity.
- Social Events: The event also featured a movie night and a lively disco on the final night, where participants could unwind, have fun, and build friendships that would last a lifetime.
These activities provided a well-rounded experience, blending competition with cultural exchange and social bonding. I am excited to see how the connections made at this event will influence future collaborations and projects across borders. The potential for growth, both personal and professional, through such initiatives is immense, and I am grateful to have been a part of it.
I look forward to contributing further to such global educational initiatives. For more details on AI courses for teachers and AI teacher training, visit AI Teacher Course.
